Indonesia emerging as the next major automotive market
23 Jan 2013
Indonesia is emerging as the next major automotive market after China and India. Indonesia's population of 240 million, rising per capita income levels and larger numbers of middle class drivers have resulted in increased motor vehicle purchases around the country.
In recognition of significant possibilities for the expansion of bilateral trade and investment in this sector, the Australian Federation of Automotive Products Manufacturers (FAPM) has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with its counterpart organisation in Indonesia, the Indonesian Automotive Parts & Components Industries Association (GIAMM).
The agreement specifies a joint collaborative focus in automotive engineering, manufacturing, prototyping and testing between Australia and Indonesia.
The MOU marks strengthening relations between the two groups and formalises a platform for ongoing collaboration between respective automotive parts manufacturers.
The Australian federation (FAPM) has invited GIAMM and its members to the upcoming Australian Automotive Week, which will be held in Melbourne in March.
