Exporting opportunities for South Australia’s vibrant creative industry sector, now worth $1 billion to the state economy and generating up to $100 million in exports annually, will be the focus of a seminar being held in Adelaide on Tuesday, 22 November 2005.


The seminar will provide practical export advice to businesses in design, music, performing arts, visual and written arts, indigenous arts, film and media and IT entertainment software.


Austrade’s South Australian Manager, Chris Rees, said there are exciting export opportunities for creative industry businesses in South Australia.


“South Australia’s creative industries sector is increasingly capturing the attention of international markets, exporting $30 million worth of motion picture, radio and television services alone,” Mr Rees said.


“The seminar will help businesses in South Australia’s creative industries sector, which employs nearly 16,000 people, enter exporting and sell their products and services overseas.”


Director of Rising Star Pictures, Wayne Lewis, is one of the South Australian creative industry exporting success stories that will provide export advice at the seminar. Rising Star pictures have worked on major feature films such as Lord of the Rings, The Last Samurai, Harry Potter, Superman and Red Planet.


The seminar is an initiative of Austrade and the South Australian Government. This seminar will help businesses in this sector become successful exporters, generating new income and opportunities overseas.


Businesses attending the seminar can expect to hear from successful creative industries exporters, receive advice on how to enter exporting, meet Austrade’s export advisers and build a network of contacts within the industry.


Austrade has assisted around 400 Australian creative industries companies achieve export sales during the last year alone. Austrade and the South Australian Government are eager to assist more companies to export their creativity in the coming year and this seminar will provide an opportunity for businesses to discover what it takes to become a successful exporter.


The seminar will be held at Enterprise House, 136 Greenhill Road, Unley between 7.00pm – 9.00pm on Tuesday, 22 November 2005.
