Austrade’s aim is to increase awareness that exporting is good for business and the economy. The Australian exporter community is exporting more regularly. In the 1990s only 55 per cent of businesses who export did so every year. In the 2000s the percentage that export every year has risen to 68 per cent. According to Austrade's Chief Economist, Tim Harcourt, this trend shows the natural rate of exporting is increasing, improving Australia’s export sustainability.
