HR executives from India’s blue chip companies seek Australian expertise

A group of senior executives from India specialising in human resources are in Melbourne today to meet with Australian industry peers for shared learning and training opportunities.
 
The executives are members of India’s National Human Resource Development Network (NHRD) and represent some of India’s leading businesses including Maruti Suzuki, SC Johnson, Larsen and Toubro and L N Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research.
 
The delegation is in Australia with support from Austrade to attend the Australian Human Resource Institute’s Convention in Melbourne to learn Australian best practice in Human Resources Management and seek Australian expertise in HR Management, Corporate Training and other complementary HR related practices.
 
During the five-day mission (10-14 May 2010) the delegation will make industry visits to Alcoa, GHD and Deakin University. The group will also meet several Australian corporate training and coaching companies (DTA Worldwide, National Speakers Association, La Trobe University, Latus Business Solutions, The Brain Department Pty Limited, Exemplar and Mark Two Consulting to explore training options to bridge the skill gaps.
 
Austrade’s New Delhi-based Senior Trade Commissioner, Peter Linford said the visit was testimony to Australia’s expertise in HR & Corporate Training and notification of the opportunities for Australian HR & training organisations in South Asia.
 
“As India moves up the global trade and investment value chain, it calls for employee and managerial skill sets that are geared to handle varied employee roles and functions across different markets and cultures,”
Mr Linford said.
 
“Australia is well placed to provide value-added competitive solutions and expertise both in soft skills and technical knowledge oriented skill sets to assist Indian businesses to succeed in the international markets,” he said.
 
Mr Linford said there is a significant demand for Australian expertise in HR Management, Corporate Training and other complementary HR related practices in South Asia.
 
“Potential opportunities exist for Australian HR & Training organisations in offering their services to Indian businesses, either through a direct presence or in partnership with Indian HR and Training organisations,” he said.
 

The Indian delegation is being led by Mr S Y Siddiqui, Managing Executive Officer, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. The HR professionals are from the following organisations:
