New South Wales exporters honoured for their success

Austrade media release

1 December 2010

Three NSW companies have won Australian Export Awards tonight as a result of their world-leading products and services, marketing innovation and sustainable export growth. Last year, these three companies generated almost A$83 million in export earnings and employed nearly 300 people.

One of the country's longest-running and most prestigious business award programs, the Australian Export Awards celebrates Australia's best exporters, commending them for their achievements and commitment. The Australian Export Awards are co-presented by the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Congratulating the companies, Austrade's State Manager for NSW, David Howard, said they had each made a significant contribution, not just to their communities, but also to the national prosperity.

“These Award winners represent what is best about Australian business – dynamic, resourceful and determined to succeed in international business,” Mr Howard said.

“Each of the companies is leading their industries through technological advancement: this strong competitive advantage will help them in a tough global environment,” he said.

Ansarada won the Emerging Exporter Award, sponsored by TradeStart, for its next generation virtual data rooms that enable faster, easier and safer business transactions.

These services are used in business transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, fundraising and other due diligence based projects. The virtual data rooms are independently certified to the highest security standards and supported by experienced professionals.

Ansarada's unique “Software as a Service” delivery model allows clients full accessibility on demand via a standard internet browser. By delivering the application securely over the internet, clients are guaranteed access to the latest innovations in security and technology without having to invest heavily in sophisticated IT systems, staff and hardware.

Atlassian, winner of the Information and Communication Technology Award, sponsored by Ernst & Young, was co-founded by two university students in 2002. Making development and collaboration tools that enable companies to deliver quality software products faster, Atlassian has been profitable from day one. The company has also experienced rapid growth over the past eight years, and its products are used by more than 20,000 companies in 134 countries.

Atlassian's business model has always consisted of online self-service sales and the company relies on its products to "sell themselves" based on their quality and competitive pricing, and on the strength of the company's reputation.

Winner of the Arts and Entertainment Award, sponsored by Australia Post, is Laservision, which exports colourful, vibrant multimedia spectaculars using high powered lasers, digital image projection and surround sound to more than 20 countries.

Key export markets include Singapore, Korea, India and Hong Kong – which is where the Laservision show ‘Symphony of Lights' originally started with 18 buildings, and has since grown to include 44 of Hong Kong's prominent skyscrapers. The show is credited for significantly increasing tourism to the region.

Laservision is currently developing an Architectural Lighting Emergency Response System in conjunction with the Australian Government. This new technology allows for the control and distribution of external lighting on buildings on a scale never previously achieved.
