Austrade media release
9 December 2011
Three NSW firms won awards at last night's 49th Australian Export Awards, hosted by Trade Minister, Craig Emerson in Brisbane.
The Australian Export Awards, co-presented by the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is one of the country’s oldest and most prestigious business award programs.
Austrade State Manager for NSW, Munish Sharma, said the winners embodied the spirit of enterprise and determination that has kept Australia’s economy strong amid global economic uncertainty.
"I congratulate all this year's winners, in particular those from NSW," Mr Sharma said.
"Their commitment to quality and innovation serves as a model and inspiration to all businesses who aspire to international success."
The winning companies are:
Health Projects International, which won the Emerging Exporter Award.
HPI plans, designs and equips health facilities around the world and has developed a unique suite of web-based health planning software. Exports now account for around 70 per cent of the company's revenue. HPI is based in North Sydney.
Laservision won the Arts and Entertainment Award.
Laservision is known internationally for its attractions, special events and architectural lighting installations, including South East Asia’s largest light and water spectacular, Wonder Full, in Singapore. Most of the company's sales come from exports. Laservision is based in Dural.
Finisar Australia won the Large Advanced Manufacturer Award.
Finisar Australia manufactures Wavelength Selective Switches for telecommunications networks and has captured 40 per cent of the global market. Its exports increased 70 per cent in 2010–11. Finisar is based in Waterloo.
