New Appointments to the Austrade Executive

Austrade media release

2 September 2011

The Chief Executive of Austrade, Peter Grey, today announced Austrade's new Senior Executive Group which will lead and shape Austrade's trade, investment and international education efforts.

The Senior Executive Group reflects the new organisational structure of the recent Review of Austrade’s operations and will report to the Austrade CEO from 1 October.

  • Laurie Smith, former Regional Director for North East Asia will be Executive Director, International Operations.
  • Tim Beresford will be Executive Director, Australian Operations. Tim had a strong record of achievement in business prior to joining Prime Minister and Cabinet where he is currently Head of the Social Policy Division.
  • Peter Yuile will continue as a member of the Senior Executive Group in the role of Executive Director, Education and Corporate.

Announced in May 2011 by Trade Minister Craig Emerson, the Review recommended a new streamlined structure for Austrade with a smaller executive group and clearer lines of responsibility.

"The new Senior Executive combines strong skills and experience in business, along with a strong background in government," Mr Grey said.

Biographies of the new appointments and the new Austrade organisation chart are attached.
