Using tablet technology to share stories of Australian creativity and talent
Austrade media release
7 November 2011
Austrade has launched its first iPad app, the Australia Unlimited magazine, which promotes the nation's achievements in science, culture and commerce.
"This iPad app is leading the way in the Government’s adoption of digital technology, and by embracing tablet technology we are able to include multimedia elements to help bring the story of contemporary Australia to life," said Theresa Fairman, Austrade's Group Manager Brand Australia.
The launch of the app follows the release of the latest findings from the annual Anholt-GfK Roper Nation Brand Index, which measures the brand image of 50 nations.
"The new research ranks Australia 8th and reveals increasingly positive perceptions of Australia’s exports and investment environment from key markets such as South Korea," Ms Fairman said.
"The index also confirms that Australia’s greatest strength in the eyes of the rest of the world is our people, who are seen as hardworking, friendly and welcoming."
The free monthly magazine will use tablet technology to highlight the more creative and intellectual strengths of Australians at home and abroad.
The first edition of the app features astrophysicist Professor Bryan Gaensler on the cover, profiles young social entrepreneurs, Australians playing in the world's best orchestras and global business innovators.
The monthly app aims to encourage hundreds of thousands of Australians living and working overseas to share their stories with others, along with the thousands of others that have lived, studied, or conducted business in Australia.
The iPad magazine will be supported by the australiaunlimited.com website, to be launched in January 2012, which will act as a hub of compelling stories about Australia’s cultural and intellectual achievements.
The Australia Unlimited app can be downloaded from Apple’s iTunes store and found here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/australia-unlimited/id469823479?ls=1&mt=8
