Austrade congratulates Australian appointed to senior WTO role

Mr Bruce Gosper, CEO, Australian Trade Commission (Austrade), today congratulated Tim Yeend on his appointment as the Chief of Staff to new WTO Director-General Roberto Azevedo.
Until recently Mr Yeend was Australia’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the WTO. He has previously led negotiations on the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Australia-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Free Trade Agreement.
Announcing Mr Yeend’s appointment, Director-General Azevedo said: "his extensive experience and knowledge of the WTO will help me in setting out a strong forward agenda, including in the context of the Bali Ministerial".
Mr Gosper said Mr Yeend’s appointment would be widely welcomed and was appropriate recognition of his high standing.
"The work of Director-General Azevedo in advancing world trade, in particular in aiding growth through improved trade facilitation, is tremendously important for business," Mr Gosper said.
"Mr Yeend is an outstanding appointment to support the Director-General."
