Queensland Companies Take Top Export Honours

Three Queensland firms have won awards, including the Prime Minister's Australian Exporter of the Year, at the 49th Australian Export Awards ceremony, hosted by Trade Minister, Craig Emerson, in Brisbane last night.
The Australian Export Awards, co-presented by the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is one of the country's oldest and most prestigious business award programs.
Austrade State Manager for Queensland, Cheryl Stanilewicz, said this year's winners deserved recognition for their achievements in a time of global economic uncertainty.
"I congratulate our Queensland winners in particular for their success on the world stage," Ms Stanilewicz said.
"Their commitment to innovation and quality serves as a model for other businesses wishing to expand overseas."
The three winners contributed to more than $500 million in export earnings by Queensland companies in the 49th Australian Export Awards program. The winning companies are:
Sedgman Limited won The Prime Minister’s Australian Exporter of the Year Award and the Minerals and Energy Award.
Sedgman designs, builds and operates coal and metal processing facilities in Asia, the Americas and Africa, as well as Australia. It specialises in cleaning coal and has helped implement ecologically sustainable initiatives in many developing countries.
Sedgman was selected for the Prime Minister’s award from the winners of the total 12 categories. Sedgman is located in Brisbane.
Institute of Continuing and TESOL Education – University of Queensland won the Education and Training Award.
ICTE-UQ specialises in customised training and teaches over 6000 people every year.
Its Power of Partnership strategy has generated $8.4 million in export earnings over the past year, attracting more than 3000 participants at over 100 partner institutions. ICTE-UQ is based in St Lucia, Brisbane.
PWR Performance Products won the Small to Medium Manufacturer Award.
PWR makes premium products for high performance motor vehicles in the elite racing market, including Formula 1, NASCAR and US Indy Car. PWR’s export revenue has grown 70 per cent in the past year. PWR is based in Yatala.
