pdf icon Data Alert: Australia’s Economic Fundamentals Remain Strong The International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) World Economic Outlook April 2012 confirms that Australia’s economic fundamentals are strong with the real GDP growth projected to outperform every major advanced economy in 2012 and 2013. After suffering a major setback last year, the world economic outlook is gradually improving although risks remain. The IMF attributed the improvement to an increase in business activity in the USA and better policy responses to the European sovereign debt crisis. The Fund has revised its projected global output growth to 3.5 per cent in 2012, up from 3.3 per cent in its January update. The IMF is also predicting the global real GDP growth to 4.1 per cent in 2013, revised up from 3.9 per cent in its January release. Global economic growth continues to be underpinned by robust expansion in the Asian region. 211 24/04/12 Reports and analysis
