Austrade launches Asia Auto Update
12 Dec 2011
Austrade has published the first edition of its quarterly newsletter, Asia Auto Update. An initiative of the Automotive Market Access Program (AMAP), the newsletter will provide information about key developments, opportunities and events in Asia’s automotive sector.
In its first edition, the newsletter introduces readers to the AMAP team and explores the rapid growth of the auto industry in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region.
In 2010, ASEAN automotive vehicle production soared with sales of around 2.5 million vehicles and over the next five years production levels are expected to grow by around 40 per cent.
According to Austrade’s Senior Business Development Manager for ASEAN Automotive, Leigh Wilmot, this growth is fuelled by increased investment in vehicle producing nations, closer trade ties across the ASEAN region, and the development of national automotive plans across ASEAN countries.
Australian automotive capability is in demand across Asia and the ASEAN region. Through AMAP and the quarterly Asia Auto Update, Austrade helps Australian companies to access opportunities throughout Asia.
