Australian Carbon Capture and Storage expertise makes its mark in Europe
11 Oct 2010
A recent program of events in Europe organised by Austrade for Australian Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) experts is set to deliver partnering opportunities for the Australian CCS industry.
Austrade offices in Milan, London, Amsterdam and Warsaw coordinated a multi-market program rolled out over the month of September for the visiting experts. The program, which included business roundtables in Milan and London, followed by a networking event in Amsterdam, attracted delegates from all over Western Europe.
Members of the Australian delegation also exhibited at Greenhouse Gas Technologies 2010, an international conference on greenhouse mitigation technologies, before moving on to the program’s finale – a site visit to the largest proposed CCS demonstration project in Poland, Belchatow, plus a briefing from Belchatow’s project management team.
At each event, the Australian delegation met and networked with senior representatives from all aspects of the European CCS industry including potential investors.
Austrade’s Senior Industry Adviser for CCS, Russell Baker said there was a high level of engagement and serious interest in continuing and improving relationships with Australia in multiple ways, including attending CCS Week to be held in Melbourne later this year.
“We are confident that this tour will lead to greater investment and trade links and increased research and development collaboration between Australia and Europe on CCS.”
