Australian export case study

antiwave_main2.jpgAustralian aquatic equipment has been chosen for China’s National Swimming Centre and will be used in the upcoming Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

The equipment is made by Queensland-based Anti Wave, a company headed by founder, Anton Kajlich, a former professional water polo player.

Anti Wave, a leading innovator in swim, leisure and pool programming equipment, has a long and tested history in supplying products for major aquatic events.

The equipment selected for Beijing will be used in the ‘Watercube Complex’.  This facility will be the largest of its kind anywhere in the world.  A test event will be held there in early 2008.

Thirty years experience

“Our Olympic experience goes back 35 years,” said Mr Kajlich.

“We were first selected to supply aquatic equipment for Olympic Games in Munich in 1972 and have been supplying equipment for major events ever since.

“In fact, at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Anti Wave products were used in fifteen World Records.”

“And they were used in the World Swimming Championships that same year.”

Key factor in success

Mr. Kajlich said that Austrade had been a key factor in Anti Wave’s success in being chosen to supply aquatic equipment for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

“No matter how good your product, you always have to work at getting each new contract,” he noted, “and Austrade was there for us when it mattered – to help us when we were pitching.”

Anti Wave produces a wide range of equipment for swimming pools and water polo, includes racing lanes, starting blocks, water polo goals, judges’ stations, pool deck gratings, moveable bulkheads and floors, and submersible swimwalls.

The equipment is made at Anti Wave’s main operation and factory in Ipswich, Queensland.

The company also has a new factory in Ding Guo, in China, and licencing and marketing arrangements in many countries around the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Malaysia, Singapore and New Zealand.
