Australian rail suppliers on fast track to Hong Kong
08 Dec 2010
Australian rail expertise is on a fast track to Hong Kong following a series of workshops outlining supply opportunities to the Hong Kong Metro rail sector.
Over 60 Australian delegates, including rail product and service suppliers, industry associations and government representatives participated in seminars aimed at gaining market intelligence on the development of the Hong Kong Metro system.
Austrade’s Hong Kong-based Senior Trade Commissioner, Phil Ingram said, “Currently 23 Australian firms are active in the Hong Kong rail sector, with $11 billion in new project opportunities on offer over the next 10 years.
“The Hong Kong Metro is expanding into a number of overseas markets, including Mainland China and by doing work for them in Hong Kong there could be opportunities to grow with them globally.
“At the recent seminars there was a high level of interest from Australian suppliers keen to access this growth market and participate in an industry mission to Hong Kong in mid-March 2011,” Mr Ingram said.
The seminars held over late October and November also included presentations on doing business in Hong Kong and were held in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
