The Jordanian economy is a market oriented economy. The economic system is based on free enterprise and personal initiative. Since 1989 and with the help of international organisations, efforts have been under way to restructure and revitalise the economy. Jordan has a comprehensive and extensive communications network, which consists of a mixture of public and private ownership. A complete transportation network by land, water and air also provides easy and reliable access for goods and services to all parts of the country.
