Business matching for Australian companies
The BCA program was based in the heart of Beijing at the Hilton Hotel. During the 17 days of the Games, over 4,000 Australian and Chinese business people were involved in the 51 business and industry networking functions in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The program assisted Australian companies with targeted business matching and networking events, such as the below which the Australian Minister for Trade, the Hon Simon Crean MP actively participated:
VIP Opening Ceremony
Officially opened by The Prime Minister of Australia the Hon Kevin Rudd MP to highlight the Australian Government’s support for its key international business matching program. Attended by 188 high level Chinese and Australian business executives.
Australian Sports and Events industry reception
To promote Australia’s capability in the “business of sport” sector, this event was a platform to raise awareness of Australian capabilities in the development of sporting facilities, sports events related services and technologies. Jointly sponsored by AISES, 154 high-level Chinese and Australian business executives attended.
Financial Services industry function
Raised Australia’s profile in the Chinese financial services industry and indicate the priority the Australian Government places on expanding exports of financial services. 117 businesspeople attended. Immediately prior, there was an MOU signing between the Australian Financial Markets Association (AFMA) and the Securities Association of China (SAC).
Clean Energy networking function
Attended by 154 guests in this sector, this function raised awareness of Australia’s capabilities in clean energy technologies and services and to provide a forum for the members on the Clean Energy Mission to China (led by Minister Crean) to network and meet with potential Chinese clients, industry experts and decision makers.
Minerals and Mining networking function
Sponsored by the Minerals Council of Australia and attended by His Excellency the then Governor General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Major Michael Jeffery, and by The Hon Martin Ferguson Minister for Resources, Energy and Tourism, this event showcased Australian mining and minerals capabilities to a high-level audience of 206 attendees.
London 2012 Olympics dinner
This dinner showcased to key London 2012 organisers and decision makers the knowledge, experience and expertise of the major Australian companies involved in Beijing’s hosting of the 2008 Olympic Games, including a keynote address from Mr John Armitt Chairman of the London 2012 Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA).
