Business Club Australia
Business Club Australia (BCA) has been the Australian Government’s official business networking program during a major international sporting event. The program has been implemented by the Australian Government’s trade, investment and education promotion agency, the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade).
Since the Sydney 2000 Olympics, BCA has held 329 business networking events around the world and engaged over 38,990 international business executives and senior government ministers through targeted networking activities. In the first seven years alone, the program facilitated over A$1.7 billion in international business outcomes.
The program
A typical BCA program has a dedicated venue and can include a mix of business and industry networking events, business missions, an integrated marketing and media campaign. It can also include public and private partnerships with high-level government and business involvement and carry endorsement from the respective peak sporting body.
BCA leverages the excitement and international media attention around major sporting events to showcase Australia as a preferred trade, investment and education destination, and to boost opportunities for Australian firms to build productive international business connections.

Legacy
Created and managed by Austrade, BCA was the first program of its kind in the world. Following the program’s success over the years, BCA has been replicated by numerous countries including the UK, India, Canada, New Zealand and Scotland.
In 2008, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) produced a case study on BCA to provide assistance to future Olympic bidding cities in their submission.
