Alumni function in Taiwan captures the essence of Australian education
23 Jun 2013
The Taiwan Australia Alumni Association (TAAA) has relaunched alumni events by holding a careers seminar and ‘Welcome Back’ dinner for returning Australian alumni. The event, held in mid-June in association with Austrade, served as a key opportunity to promote the inaugural Australian Alumni Gala Dinner in Taipei on 4 October.
Aimed primarily at recent graduates, the event began with a career seminar in the afternoon headlined by a guest speaker from 104.com Job Bank. The seminar touched on the advantages of internationally-educated job seekers and entry strategies into chosen careers. Representatives from the Australian New Zealand Chamber of Commerce (ANZCHAM) also attended the function, highlighting upcoming job opportunities for graduates from Australia.
The second part of the function, a ‘Welcome Back’ dinner in the evening, attracted over 100 alumni, government representatives, guests and friends, bringing together a diverse group of people to celebrate their association with Australian education at the Westin Hotel in Taipei. The dinner provided opportunities for alumni to network in a fun and relaxed setting. In an eventful evening program, the TAAA arranged a series of activities and games to challenge alumni on their knowledge of Australia.
The dinner was an important precursor to the inaugural Australian Alumni Gala Dinner, to be held on 4 October at the W Hotel Grand Ballroom in Taipei, in conjunction with the 2013 Australia Future Unlimited Education Exhibition (AFUEE). Australian institutions are encouraged to participate in the Gala Dinner by hosting alumni tables at this premium networking event. Pricing details for sponsorship of the Gala will be available in August 2013.
The TAAA is an independent organisation based in Taipei with a focus on productive alumni networking through social and professional events. Key calendar events, such as the ‘Welcome Back’ dinner and Gala event in October, reinforce the value of Australian alumni beyond graduation for promoting Australian education and their home institution.
