Future Unlimited in the spotlight in Manila

Future Unlimited activities in Manila during November 2011 highlighted Australia’s reputation as a premier destination for international education.

The Future Unlimited — Higher Education Showcase 2011 in Manila held on 15 November 2011, aimed to capitalise on high-value niche market segments and provide value-added service to providers. The groups participated in a number of education events in-market including the IDP Exhibition, Australian-New Zealand Alumni Fellowship dinner dance, the QS APPLE Conference and other education agent activities.

The one-day event featured a conference attended by NOOSR section 1 and 2 institutions in the Philippines, key government HR offices, top universities in specific fields, education agents and other stakeholders. The conference highlighted the capabilities of participating providers. A business matching session followed, during which Philippine and Australian institutions discussed potential partnerships and linkages.

During the afternoon, a counselling session was held for high-value market segments such as international baccalaureate and upper-tier students and their parents, and postgraduate students from different industries. The audience comprised pre-screened individuals who represented the profile of full-fee paying students.

Representatives from Australian Catholic University, Bond University, Central Queensland University, Deakin University, Griffith University, Holmesglen Institute, University of Sydney, University of Western Sydney, University of Wollongong and Victoria University participated in the showcase.

Executives and upper-level officials from universities, government agencies and the Australia-New Zealand Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ANZCham) attended an evening networking session.

On 26 November 2011, the Future Unlimited: Study in Australia seminar was held in Davao City in the southern Philippines. The session aimed to tap the emerging student market in Davao. Topics presented include the Guide to Studying and Living in Australia, student visas, and the Endeavour Awards.

The Higher Education Showcase provided a platform for participating providers to reach targeted and high-value students and potential partners, and the Davao seminar promoted Australia as a study destination in an emerging market.
