22 Mar 2013

An Austrade-organised alumni excellence awards ceremony, held in Colombo on 23 February 2013, has recognised Sri Lankans with applied skills and knowledge acquired from an Australia education in their respective fields of expertise. The event was an ideal opportunity to showcase the quality of Australian education and opportunities for developing a global career.

Sri Lanka has a strong base of Australian alumni, with the Australian Alumni Excellence Awards acknowledging the efforts and contributions made by former students to enhance the reputation of their institution and alumni community.

Held for the fifth consecutive year, the awards honoured alumni from Australian institutions that had made significant achievements in government and private sector organisations, in Sri Lanka and internationally. The awards also recognised those who had contributed significantly to the betterment of Australian education and their institution or alumni community.

  • Australia Awards- Development
  • Australia Awards-Endeavour
  • Australian Alumni Excellence Awards (General Category)
  • Australian Alumni Award for Community Service
  • Australian Alumni Award for Education, Research & Innovation

Certificates and mementos for nominated alumni were presented by Ms Sonya Koppe, Acting Australian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, and Dr Grayson Perry, Australian Trade Commissioner.
