Australian education profiled in Korean media

23 Jul 2012

Australian Ambassador to Korea, Mr Sam Gerovich was recently interviewed for one of Korea’s largest newspapers, the Joong Ang Daily, by three Korean year 10 and 11 students currently attending selective high schools in Seoul.

Australian universities are highly ranked and Australian qualifications widely recognised as world class, said Mr Gerovich to Korean students considering study in Australia.

The  Ambassador was speaking to three Korean Year 10 and 11 students from selective high schools in Seoul who were interviewing him for one of Korea’s largest newspapers, the Joong Ang Daily (daily circulation is 1.5 million),

The interview was released as a half-page story in the paper’s education supplement, attracting attention to the quality of Australian universities.

Public relations activities through media outlets are considered an effective way of raising the profile and image of Australian education in Korea. This interview also raised the profile of Australian education with the important secondary student market in Korea. Austrade will continue to promote Australian education by collaborating with major media outlets and channels.

The interview was coordinated jointly by Austrade and Public Diplomacy Section (PDS), Embassy of the Republic of Korea.
