EnviroVietnam promotes networking in environmental research
23 Jul 2012
Participants in the EnviroVietnam Seminar 2012 held in Vietnam in June met with a number of local universities to discuss opportunities regarding joint research programs in the environmental science and management fields. The seminar also focused on the green building, renewable energy, and clean water and sanitation technology sectors.
The program was held in Hanoi on 18–19 June and in Ho Chi Minh on
20–21 June 2012. Specific areas of focus for the Austrade-organised event included infrastructure, education and training, and research and commercialisation. Participants benefited from furthering relationships with local industry stakeholders and key government representatives in Vietnam.
The participants from the education sector had a fruitful working visit program to a number of leading local universities in Vietnam in the fields of environmental research and studies, including Hanoi University of Technology, Hanoi Water Resources University, Ho Chi Minh University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh University of Sciences, Institute for Environmental Science and Development, and Institute of Environment and Resources, National University of Ho Chi Minh City.
The mission also comprised a combination of presentations from experts in water supply and sewage associations, the renewable energy and legal environment, green building and environmental industries. There were also panel discussions on opportunities in Vietnam’s water industry and challenges for urbanisation in Vietnam. During the networking lunches, presentations on environmental development opportunities in Vietnam and impacts of climate change were delivered.
The visit program strengthened relationships between Australian institutes and the local partners and may lead to future joint research programs.
