Festival boosts interest in Australian education

17 Sep 2012

More opportunities to engage with the Hong Kong market have resulted from the 2012 Australia Future Unlimited Festival, with 13 Australian institutions participating in this year’s largest Australian education promotion campaign in Hong Kong, held during May to July.

Activities at the fair included raising awareness about institutions’ teaching capability and brand through advertorials, online marketing campaigns, websites, master classes and social media.

The event was successful in expanding the reach of Australian education through publicity and media, teaching experiences in the classroom and seminars to students and parents.

Enquiries from school counsellors for information on Australian education have increased and Australian institutions will benefit through more opportunities to participate in local school university fairs.

Highlights of this year’s campaign were the Learning Workshops and the School Counsellor Briefing. These activities provided representatives with the opportunity to directly deliver information to students and their careers advisers, and were complemented by the advertorial campaigns targeting parents.

Based on the success of the Learning Workshops, an Australian Teaching Showcase and related public seminars are being developed for 2013, with plans to encompass the markets of China, Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan. More information will be provided in the Market Information Package (MIP) in September.

Austrade activities for 2013 in Hong Kong and Macau will focus on outreach programs through local schools, including:

  • Australian Teaching Showcase, March 2013–TBC (higher education)
  • HKTDC Education and Careers Expo, 31 January–3 February 2013
    (all sectors)

A 2013 calendar of local school university fairs will be soon available through the MIP, highlighting opportunities for Australian higher education providers to engage directly in the Hong Kong market. There are also a number of current opportunities for Australian institutions to participate in Hong Kong schools fairs, as advertised on 7 August and on 5 September.
