Kenyan fair promotes Australian higher education capability
25 Feb 2013
More than 15 Australian institutions were represented at the Australian Higher Education Fair held in Kenya from 16–21 January 2013. The fair visited three strategic regions to showcase Australian capability in education and was attended by around 1800 participants. The event was organised by Australian Education Consultants.
Most prospective students were interested in undergraduate courses in medicine, business, nursing and engineering. Common enquiries included undergraduate scholarship opportunities, study costs and obtaining a visa.
Australian High Commissioner to Kenya, His Excellency Geoff Tooth, spoke at the opening ceremony in Nairobi about the importance of a good education and of Australian capability in this sector. Austrade’s assistance included organising marketing material at the Nairobi event and the welcome reception for Australian representatives to network with key contacts in the Kenyan education sector.
Some Australian universities expressed interest in forming partnerships with local universities and institutions for the provision of key strategic programs.
