New grants to help develop opportunities in Asia
11 Jan 2013
A new Austrade-administered grants scheme, the Asian Century Business Engagement (ACBE) plan, supports member-based business organisations to develop opportunities throughout Asia.
The ACBE plan was announced as an initiative in the Australian Government‘s Australia in the Asian Century White Paper to assist member-based business organisations, and through them, small and medium-sized enterprises, to harness opportunities emerging in the region.
The key goals of the ACBE plan will be to leverage and expand the capability of member-based business groups to:
- assist Australian firms access in-market business networks more effectively and develop relationships with business contacts in Asian countries
- identify and secure more opportunities for Australian firms in regional value chains in Asia
- strengthen business links between Australia and Asia
- influence corporate Australia to initiate closer engagement with Asia
- raise the profile of Australian business capability in Asia
- increase awareness of Australia in Asia, and of Asia in Australia.
Applications for the ACBE plan will open in late February 2013 and grants will be announced in July 2013.
