Transnational Education Program Approval and Pricing in China
26 Mar 2012
Inside the report
This report aims to provide an update on the latest operating environment in China for transnational education (TNE) programs for higher education with a view to inform relevant Australian education providers, peak bodies and governments interested in delivering TNE programs in China.
This report gives general background information on transnational education (TNE) programs in China. It then outlines the framework for establishment and approval procedures for TNE programs at government level. Explanation is given on issues associated with degree qualifications and obtaining accreditation by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), as well as the internal selection process of Chinese institutions in terms of who they will work with and on what project.
The report also identifies selected regions and their local approval policy, pricing and taxation; and showcases some of the joint programs operating in China. The on-the-ground experiences highlighted through interviews with a few insiders and case studies should provide useful insights for those interested in, or having engaged in, delivering TNE programs in China.
