Brazil-Australia Dialogue highlights challenges and opportunities

On 21 March the Brazil-Australia Dialogue took place in Sao Paulo at the Universidade de Sao Paulo (USP). The dialogue, a joint initiative between the Australian Government, University of Melbourne and USP, highlighted the key challenges that are of crucial importance to the bilateral relationship and identified areas where collaboration between Australia and Brazil will deliver mutually beneficial economic and societal outcomes.
The dialogue was held in two parallel sessions:
- The Global Dialogue discussed the role of Brazil and Australia on the Global Stage.
- The Research Collaboration Dialogue focused on 'Liveable Cities, Sustainable Lives'
Apart from the University of Melbourne delegation, led by Vice-Chancellor Glyn Davis, attendees included COALAR Board member Tim McLennan, Minerals Council Chief Executive Mitch Hooke, and journalists Jennifer Hewitt, Rowan Callick and Daniel Flitton. His Excellency Ambassador Brett Hackett opened the Dialogue and Senior Trade Commissioner Kym Fullgrabe and Trade Commissioner Sheila Lunter attended the parallel sessions of the Dialogue.
