This Austrade-led mission is designed to identify and target opportunities for Australian companies in hard-rock mining in Kazakhstan. It aims to provide high-level access to key decision-makers in government and the major mining groups as well as contact with distributors and agents.
Following the mission, Austrade recommends attending the Central Asia Mining Congress in Almaty, this event will bring together key mining policy makers, mining companies, investors and suppliers from Kazakhstan and the Central Asian region.
Kazakhstan possesses 15% of the world’s uranium reserves, 8% of its zinc, 7% of the world’s manganese and 4% of the iron ore. Kazakhstan also ranks in the top 10 countries for coal, oil and gas, chrome, zinc and bauxite reserves. In production terms, however, Kazakhstan is far from realising its full potential.
Kazakhstan is strategically placed, with an extensive border with China. Road, rail and pipeline infrastructure is developing rapidly.
