Australian export case study

In a package worth $3.45 million, Darwin-based SRA Information Technology is working with the largest IT services company in Singapore, NCS Pte Ltd, and supplying enterprise level software to the Singapore National Environment Agency.

SRA Information Technology’s ‘EnviroSys’ is being used to monitor Singapore’s weather. The specialist software has been designed to hold large volumes of data over a long period of time as it stores, manages, and reports on weather data.

More than 60 automatic weather stations are in the process of being installed around Singapore island to transmit the data back to a central point.

Jim Rowe, Business Development Manager for SRA Information Technology, said that what makes 'EnviroSys' software innovative is its inherent flexibility in managing any type of monitoring data.

"The focus with this program is on weather data, but the same underlying software engine could just as easily be used by the National Environment Agency to manage data from carbon emissions, or for air quality, water quality or waste management programs - and SRA Information Technology is looking at these possibilities."

Mr Rowe said that while SRA Information Technology’s Australian client list includes federal government agencies and some of the largest companies in the country such as BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto and Santos, “this job marks our first international contract.”

He said that Austrade, both in Australia and Singapore, had been very helpful in providing advice and assistance as the company began its export journey.
