Visas

Visas are required for all foreign visitors to Ethiopia and may be obtained at Ethiopia’s diplomatic missions overseas.

Tourist Visas and Business Visas may be granted for visits of up to one month, three months, or six months, and under some circumstances Business Visas may be granted for one year on request. Six month Tourist Visas are only available to travellers of Ethiopian Origin. Travellers going to Ethiopia to work or volunteer must apply for a maximum three months Business Visa, and supply a letter from the sponsoring organisation in Ethiopia. These Visas can be extended in Ethiopia after arrival. Multiple Tourist or Business Visas may be granted on production of a travel itinerary.

For further information please contact your nearest Ethiopian Embassy or Consulate prior to arrival.
