Low emissions technology and services to Indonesia
(Last updated: 2 May 2012)
Overview
The following report on trade opportunities in the low emissions technology and services sector in Indonesia is funded under Austrade’s Low Emissions Technology and Services (LETS) Initiative.
The ASEAN Clean Energy & Environment team conducted extensive desktop research and two scoping exercises to understand and map out the potential opportunities related to low emissions technology and services in the Indonesian market, particularly pertaining to renewable energy (RE) development. Some opportunities have also been identified for energy efficiency (EE) and water sectors. We have identified and engaged with 30+ relevant key stakeholders and decision makers for specific project opportunities related to LETS in Indonesia.
Opportunities, challenges and the way forward
- Opportunities for Australian technology and service providers are available in the areas of capacity building, development cooperation in technology, supply of on grid and isolated hybrid systems as well as public advisory services.
- Without question, doing business in Indonesia can be quite daunting. It does have its share of challenges which is not dissimilar from other growing economies.
- The key to managing these challenges will require shrewd business planning and long term vision. The dynamics of the political and socio-economic landscape influence industry policies and regulatory framework as well as business decisions. Hence, it is highly crucial to understand the country from both macro and micro levels.
