Visas can be obtained from the Mongolian Embassy in Canberra, although they are only issuing 30-day visas at the time of writing (June 2010).

90-day visas can be obtained if you have been invited or sponsored by a Mongolian national, Mongolian company, expat company, or are part of an organised tour. Visa extensions beyond 30 days can be obtained while in Mongolia from the Office of Immigration, Naturalization and Foreign Citizens, tel: 011 315 323.

There are three main points of entry into Mongolia for international travellers. These are Chinggis Khan airport in Ulaanbaatar, Ereen and Zamyn-Uud on the Chinese border, and Nasushki and Sukhbaatar on the northern Russian border.
Tourist visas can be obtained at these points, but it is better to have a valid Mongolian visa before entering the country to avoid potential complications and delays.
