24 Feb 2014
Australia has experienced the highest growth rate in pension (superannuation) assets and remains the world’s fourth largest pension market, valued at US$1.6 trillion, according to the Towers Watson Global Pensions Asset Study – 2014.
Australia’s superannuation assets rose to 105 per cent of the GDP in 2013, up from 79 per cent a decade ago, according to the survey of 13 major pension markets in the world. The findings illustrate the size and long-term growth of Australia’s superannuation system, a major contributor to Australia’s funds management industry – the largest in the Asia-Pacific and third largest in the world.
