David Gorman is the Australian Trade Commission’s Senior Investment Director in New York with primary responsibility for financial services, energy and all investor- related projects and relationships. 

Before joining Austrade, David spent 15 years with leading Wall Street firms specialising in hedge funds, private equity, risk solutions and traditional asset classes. Most recently David was Executive Director with Arden Asset Management, a privately-owned hedge fund-of-funds where he served on the firm’s Compliance and Operating Committees. Prior to Arden, David spent 7 years with Bear Stearns Asset Management as a Managing Director and leader of the firm’s consultant relations practice. 

David began his career at Morgan Stanley, first in the investment banking analyst program where he worked for Treasurer Brad Hintz (Institutional Investor’s top-ranked financial services research analyst now at Bernstein Research). Later he joined Morgan Stanley Asset Management where he supported investment consultants and institutions in the US and Canada. 

A graduate of Columbia University, David majored history with a focus on western Europe’s industrialisation and colonialism. He chairs the Advisory Board of the Swim for Life Foundation, a not-for-profit that delivers water safety and drowning prevention education to children of all ages and their families.
