Investment in Arnott’s Brisbane factory
15 April 2009
The Treasurer of Australia Wayne Swan visited Campbell Arnott’s bakery in Virginia, Brisbane, to discuss the company’s $37 million capital investment in a new, state-of-the-art biscuit production line.
The new line, which will be operational by mid-2010, will boost the bakery’s capacity by 10,000 tonnes per annum and is expected to result in 25-30 new jobs, with a possible increase to 50-60 new jobs over the next few years.
Arnott’s currently employs 3,500 people in Australia and produces more than 100,000 tonnes of biscuits. The Virginia bakery also has a new $30 million distribution centre, purpose built by Linfox for Arnott’s, to streamline production and distribution. |
