US smart identification security organisation opens regional headquarters in Australia 4 February 2010 The California-based smart identification security company, idOnDemand, has opened an office in Canberra to cover the Asia-Pacific region. The new headquarters will provide global support coverage, research and development, production capabilities and sales functions for the company across the region. Michael Puckridge, idOnDemand’s Asia Pacific Sales Manager, said that the company has seen a great awareness and uptake of SmartID solutions in this part of the world, citing the soon-to-be-released Queensland Smart Drivers Licence and Hong Kong’s Octopus Card. He said that with idOnDemand SmartID, a single ID card can be used to protect data, access buildings and securely connect to a corporate network. Unlike traditional smartcard and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) systems, idOnDemand is hosted, simplifying the complex production, delivery and management infrastructure into a simple ‘pay-as-you-go’ business model.
