Securities regulation: Australia and the United States announce mutual recognition arrangement

On 25 August 2008, the Australian Government entered into a mutual recognition arrangement on securities regulation with the US Securities and Exchange Commission and the Australian Securities and Investment Commission.

This arrangement will pave the way for easier access by investors and financial markets to each other’s financial systems and will make Australian securities markets more attractive and accessible to investment from the United States.
