But for Hakubaku the icing on the cake is that Australia has also proved an ideal market to trial the introduction of Japanese food staples for export to markets worldwide. Hakubaku is a family-owned company based in Yamanashi Prefecture immediately west of Tokyo that produces a variety of cereal-based food staples for consumption in Japan. It enjoys a half share of Japan's barley market and is the country’s largest noodle brand, with a five per cent share in a highly fragmented sector where many producers are corner-shop businesses.
