Australia rises as global financial services centre9 October 2009The World Economic Forum's Financial Development Report has ranked Australia second among the world's financial centres, ahead of the US, Singapore and Hong Kong. In the WEF's Financial Development Index, Australia ranked 1st in terms of financial access and performed very well in both banking (5th) and non-banking (3rd) financial services. The report also confirms the strength of Australia's financial services sector in the face of the global economic recession and is a major boost to achieving the Australian Government’s goal to develop Australia as a major regional financial services hub.
