Australian Centre for Renewable Energy launched2 November 2009The Australian Centre for Renewable Energy, part of the Government’s $4.5 billion Clean Energy Initiative, has been launched by the Australian Treasurer, Wayne Swan, and the Minister for Resources and Energy, Martin Ferguson. The new Centre draws together renewable energy investment of more than $560 million to help commercialise renewable energy. Mr Swan said that the Government is providing the energy sector with the certainty it needs to support long-term investments in the low-pollution technologies of the future. Australia has a target of 20 per cent renewable energy by 2020 and greenhouse gas emission reductions of 60 per cent by 2050. More information |
