World class research facility opens in Australia 11 November 2009 A new world class research facility has been opened in Sydney by Senator Kim Carr, Australia’s Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research. Located at the University of Technology, the new Microbial and Cellular Imaging and Analysis Facility involves collaboration between the University and four other Australian tertiary institutions: the University of Sydney, the University of Wollongong, the University of Melbourne, and LaTrobe University. “The Australian government is committed to supporting the cooperative development and shared use of national and international research facilities,” the Minister said. “This facility will enable the development and application of state-of-the-art technologies for investigating microbes and the way they interact with other organisms, host cells and the environment. He said that the facility’s DeltaVision OMX super-high-resolution microscope is one of only two of its kind in the world. More information |
