New bioscience research centre benefits Australian clinical trials sector 16 December 2009 An $11.2 million cutting-edge bioscience research facility, just opened at Victoria’s Monash University, will benefit the Australian clinical trials sector. The new Victorian Recombinant Proteins Feeder Facility will support the creation of therapeutic cells, increase the development of new drugs, and provide a centre for Australia’s collaborative bioscience research. At the launching of the facility, the Australian Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, Senator Kim Carr, said that researchers from all over the country will have access to the centre. “This high-quality research will be of great benefit to the clinical trials sector as it can produce recombinant proteins at levels that can support pre-clinical trials,” Senator Carr said.
