New ‘how-to’ guide for investing in Australia

27 January 2010

A practical guide for foreign investors on how to establish or expand a business in Australia – Doing Business in Australia – has just been published by the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade), in association with the law firm DLA Phillips Fox.

The guide, which is available online, provides an overview of Australia and Australian laws and regulations, as well as information specific to the infrastructure and construction industries.

Austrade’s National Manager Investment, Nicola Watkinson, said that the new guide provides a wealth of practical advice for international investors.

DLA Phillips Fox CEO, Tony Crawford, said that there were significant opportunities available for foreign investment in Australia, particularly in the infrastructure and construction sectors.

He commented that there has been an increase in major infrastructure projects in Australia while there are only a limited number of construction and infrastructure companies operating in the market.

“This means that opportunities abound for international providers,” Mr Crawford said.
