Statistics show that Australians have better life 16 September 2010 Statistics just released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics show that life has become better for Australians. In a Report called Measures of Australia’s Progress 2010 – Is life in Australia getting better?, statisticians looked at a suite of social, economic and environmental indicators. Some of the findings: - Between June 1999 and June 2009, Australia's real national net worth per capita increased from A$287,100 to A$314,200, equivalent to an average annual growth rate of 0.9 per cent.
- During the past decade, Australia has experienced significant real per capita income growth – from A$35,000 in 1999 to A$45,300 in 2009 (in 2007-08 prices).
- Between 1998-99 and 2008-09, real net national disposable income per capita grew by 2.6 per cent a year, which is appreciably faster than during the preceding ten years, when it grew by 1.5 per cent per year.
- The people of Australia are becoming more highly educated. Over the past ten years there has been an increase in the proportion of people who have a vocational or higher education qualification, from 49 per cent to 63 per cent.
