Data Alert: Annual turnover across Australia’s financial markets rises to A$102 Trillion 28 September 2010 The 2010 Australian Financial Markets Report, released by the Australian Financial Markets Association (AFMA), shows that Australia’s annual turnover of over-the-counter and exchanged-traded markets has exceeded A$100 trillion. The figures, which measure Australia’s debt, equities, foreign exchange and derivatives markets, have highlighted the sophistication and quality of Australian financial markets. Australia’s record of sustained economic growth, the robust institutional framework, the openness of the economy, and the size, depth and sophistication of our markets, have demonstrated that Australia is well positioned as a major financial services centre in the Asia-Pacific region.
