Swiss food giant expands Australian plant 22 October 2010 The Swiss-based global food giant, Nestlè, is to invest $17 million to expand its Tongala production plant in north-east Victoria into a food manufacturing hub for Oceania, Asia and Africa. The food and beverage conglomerate has had a presence in Australia for more than hundred years. In 1999, Nestlé Australia's head office became headquarters for the Oceania Region, which includes Nestlé operations in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Nestlè SA is the world’s biggest food company in terms of sales, and one of the world’s largest manufacturers of baby food. Well-known Nestlé brands include Maggi, Nescafè, Milo and Purina. The Nestlé Group also has a 30 per cent interest in leading cosmetics company, L’Oreal. More information |
