US telco opens research lab in Australia 18 November 2010 Tellabs, the global telco with headquarters in Illinois, has opened an innovation research laboratory in Australia. The new R&D facility will be in Melbourne, where the company opened its first Australian office in 2006. Nick Faulkner, Tellabs’ Australian Managing Director, said that the new facility will enable Tellabs to expand its support in the market. “With continued major investment into the research and development of our Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) products, we are able to offer a greener technology that uses 70 per cent less power compared with overlay solutions with limitless bandwidth potential,” Mr Faulkner said. The Nasdaq-listed Tellabs consults to major communications providers around the world including Vodafone in the UK, Verizon in the US, and Telstra in Australia. More information |
