Hundreds of jobs result from new ICT service centre in Australia

17 January 2011

South-African ICT company Dimension Data has announced it plans to open a second Global Service Centre (GSC) in Sydney.

The new centre will be based in the rapidly developing commercial precinct of North Ryde and is established in partnership with the NSW Government.

The Sydney GSC will provide services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It will deliver technical IT support services for networks; storage; servers; the desktop environment; business applications; contact centres and security for clients nationwide.

In the centre’s first year of operation, 130 people will be employed, increasing to more than 300 staff by the end of 2015. The employee skills base will range from graduates to highly skilled technical engineers. The new centre will also allow for the expansion of Dimension Data’s graduate program.

The company already has a Global Service Centre operating in Melbourne, which employs 300 professionals.

The Sydney centre has been made possible with the assistance of Industry and Investment NSW.
