China’s Trina Solar opens an office in Australia

China solar manufacturer Trina Solar will open a new office in Sydney to enhance its business activities in Australia’s rapidly growing solar photovoltaic (PV) market.
The company’s expansion in Australia is designed to open up new opportunities to support and acquire customers, and to foster collaboration with both private and public sector organisations.
Trina Solar has existing relationships in Australia. In April it announced a three-year research agreement with the Australian National University to develop solar cells, supported by the Australian Solar Institute. In 2010, it entered into multimillion dollar agreements with RFI and the University of Queensland.
"Having worked more closely with our customers over the past year, we are excited to expand our presence and brand in Australia," said John Susa, Country Manager of Australia & New Zealand for Trina Solar. "We foresee strong growth for the industry, both for residential rooftops and larger-scale commercial and utility projects.
Trina Solar manufactures PV modules, silicon ingots, wafers and cells which provide solar power to residential, commercial and industrial customers.
Austrade has played a role in assisting Trina Solar engage with organisations and investors in Australia, including at events such as the World Expo Shanghai 2010.
